INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
|
PREPARATION:
- Refer to wood manufacturer’s specific recommendations.
- Substrate, adhesive and wood flooring must be acclimated in an enclosed building at minimum 65°F (18°C) for a minimum of 48 hours before, during and after installation - subject to the flooring manufacturers recommendations.
- Floor must be sound, smooth, level, clean, dry and free of excess moisture and alkali. Remove dirt, wax, loose paint and all foreign matter that would interfere
with a good bond, such as curing agents and sealers. Fill all cracks, holes and low
spots with a polymer modified cementitious patching or leveling compound and
allow to fully cure prior to applying adhesive.
- Whereas this adhesive is moisture resistant, the wood flooring must be protected from excessive moisture, so always run a calcium chloride test (according to
ASTM F-1869) on concrete on any grade level. For accurate results, curing agents
must be removed prior to testing . Moisture test results should not exceed 3 lbs./1000sq. ft./24 hours. Concrete pH should be 5 - 9.
INSTALLATION
TIPS:
- Follow the wood flooring manufacturer’s guidelines for layout and design.
- Stir any liquid on the surface into the adhesive, and apply the adhesive using
recommended trowel.
- Before installing flooring, allow adhesive to set open approximately 10 minutes. If substrate is non porous, a longer open time may be necessary.
- Do not spread more adhesive than can be covered within 45-60 minutes,
depending upon temperature and humidity. Do not allow a heavy film to form
on the surface of adhesive. If the adhesive dries or skins over, it must be scraped up, and fresh adhesive needs to be applied.
- Press wood flooring down firmly, lifting a piece occasionally to be sure the adhesive is achieving 100% transfer and bonding to the back of the flooring.
- Allow 1/2” space around the perimeter of the
room and stationary objects for normal wood flooring expansion.
- Roll floor with a heavy roller, if recommended by the wood flooring manufacturer.
- Adhesive must set overnight before exposing to traffic or applying finish.
